Yes, Dessert Please...

Those who know me even remotely know that I'm dedicated to my health. About five years ago I was blessed to get back on track to leading a more balanced lifestyle particularly as it pertains to fitness and wellness. My virtual coach was a God sent and I continually apply many of the principles I gained today to my daily living that I picked up while in the group.. Additionally, I endeavor to live by healthy concepts that were presented by my dear Mom while growing up as well as her wise counsel in regards to preserving health during my adulthood. One thing that stands out is the term moderation. She has always stated that one should enjoy a bit of everything but in proper portions and to stay active. Dessert often comes to mind as my "treat" if you will. Typically, if I'm on point during the week, I'll treat myself to something off the charts...just one thing. About every three months, I CRAVE my very own Sea Coast Island Cakes like crazy, and you know what?! I enjoy every single bite without concern , especially when I've been adhering to the 80/20 Rule. This basically promotes healthy consumption the majority of the time yet leaves room for simply ENJOYING life by indulging in that one treat from time to time. It makes all the sacrifice worth it because I don't feel deprived and in a sense rewarded for my efforts. Customers have reached out a few times concerned with breaking their diets if you will if they eat cake. I'd rather say that we, me included, simply need to reeatablish a healthier relationship with food and work to find balance which encompasses both discipline and occasional moments of indulgence. I often recommend purchasing loaves or even freezing portions of a full cake purchased, and of course sharing. Also, buying slices can help avoid "wrecking" one's fitness goals and plans. The point is IF actually allotting for dessert on many instances can motivate an individual to stay the course. Finally, when I know I'm going to treat myself, I purposefully take in more H20, veggies and protein and perhaps even a bonus workout. In so doing, I prep my body and mind for the big moment. Do I get it right 100% of the time? Naw, but I've gotten better over time, will continue to develop consistency so that I can more freely still say, "Yes, dessert please," and so can you!
